Dedicated 240V Circuit • Disconnect Installation • All BTU Sizes • Permitted • (239) 888-8888
Every ductless mini split air conditioner requires a dedicated 240V electrical circuit — it cannot share a circuit with other loads. The circuit amperage depends on the unit’s nameplate MCA (Minimum Circuit Ampacity) and MOCP (Maximum Overcurrent Protection) ratings, which vary from 15A for small 9,000 BTU units to 50A or more for multi-zone systems. ElectriciansX installs dedicated mini split circuits for all brands and BTU sizes throughout Southwest Florida, including the required within-sight disconnect.
From Cape Coral and Fort Myers to Naples and Port Charlotte, ElectriciansX serves the full breadth of Southwest Florida’s residential electrical market. Ductless mini splits are increasingly popular in Southwest Florida homes for their efficiency, quiet operation, and ability to cool or heat a room independently. Whether you’re installing a single-zone unit or a multi-head system, ElectriciansX runs the circuit, pulls the permit, and passes inspection before any unit goes online.

Dedicated circuits for all mini split brands and BTU sizes — sized correctly, permitted, and inspected.
We run a dedicated 240V circuit from your main panel to the mini split location, sized to the unit’s MCA/MOCP rating — 15A through 50A depending on the unit.
NEC requires a within-sight, lockable disconnect within 50 ft of the outdoor condenser unit. We install a properly rated weatherproof disconnect as part of every mini split circuit installation.
We confirm your panel has available capacity for the new circuit and calculate the correct breaker size based on the manufacturer’s nameplate data.
Multi-head mini split systems require larger circuits and sometimes sub-panel work. We size and install circuits for multi-zone systems throughout Southwest Florida.
Mini split circuits require electrical permits in all Lee and Collier County jurisdictions. We handle the permit, schedule the inspection, and pass sign-off.
We coordinate with your mini split installer so the circuit is ready before the refrigerant lines and air handlers are installed — no delays, no rework.
We confirm the mini split's MCA, MOCP, and voltage requirements from the nameplate data or installation manual before sizing the circuit.
We verify your main panel has available breaker space and sufficient service capacity to support the new circuit without overloading the panel.
We run the correct wire gauge from the panel to the unit location and install a properly sized breaker. All wire is run through conduit or routed per NEC requirements.
We mount a code-compliant, within-sight disconnect within 50 ft of the outdoor condenser unit — weatherproof and lockable per NEC 440.14.
We pull the required electrical permit, schedule the inspection, and ensure the circuit passes before advising the HVAC installer to proceed with refrigerant and air handler work.

Breaker size is determined by the unit’s MOCP (Maximum Overcurrent Protection) rating listed on the nameplate. Common sizes are: 15A for 9,000–12,000 BTU units; 20A for 12,000–18,000 BTU; 25–30A for 24,000 BTU; 40–50A for 36,000+ BTU multi-zone systems. We always size to the manufacturer’s specified MOCP — never guess.
Yes — always. The NEC and every mini split manufacturer require a dedicated circuit. Mini splits cannot share a circuit with outlets, lights, or other appliances. A shared circuit risks breaker trips, voltage drops that damage the inverter, and voided warranties.
Yes. A new electrical circuit for a mini split air conditioner requires an electrical permit in all Lee County, Collier County, and Charlotte County jurisdictions. ElectriciansX handles the permit application, inspection scheduling, and sign-off as part of every installation.
It depends on your panel’s total capacity and current load. Most 200A panels can handle one or two mini split circuits. Panels at or near capacity may require a load calculation and potentially a panel upgrade or sub-panel before adding a mini split circuit. We assess this as part of our estimate.
Wire gauge is determined by the circuit amperage: 14 AWG for 15A circuits; 12 AWG for 20A; 10 AWG for 30A; 8 AWG for 40–45A; 6 AWG for 50A. Using undersized wire is a fire hazard and a code violation — we always size wire to match the circuit amperage.
Most mini split circuit installations take 3–5 hours depending on the distance from the panel to the unit location, the number of walls or attic spaces the wire must cross, and whether a permit needs to be pulled before work begins. We provide a time and cost estimate during our free site visit.
