Can you install a whole-home standby generator to prepare for hurricane season?
Absolutely — generator installation is one of our most requested services in Southwest Florida. We install Generac Guardian Series whole-home standby generators that connect to your natural gas or LP supply and start automatically within 10 seconds of a power outage. We size the generator from a load calculation so it carries the circuits you rely on, including air conditioning. When the load is too much, we install a Generac Smart Module so each air-conditioner condenser starts at a different time. The inrush current dies down before the next condenser starts. We handle the full project — permits, concrete pad, gas coordination, transfer switch, and final inspection. Most residential installations complete in one to two days. We have a Challenger or Federal Pacific (Stab-Lok) panel and our insurance company won't insure us until it's replaced. How much does it cost?
Challenger and Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels are a documented fire hazard — breakers in these panels are known to fail to trip under fault conditions, which can start house fires. Most Florida insurance companies now refuse to insure or renew policies on homes with these panels. Replacement cost depends on your current service size and distances involved, and includes the permit and inspection. How much does it cost to install a generator inlet for a portable generator, and what can we expect?
A generator inlet (power inlet box) lets you connect a portable generator to your home's wiring through a single cord — no extension cords everywhere, and no dangerous backfeeding. The installation includes a weatherproof inlet box outside, a dedicated circuit back to a transfer switch or interlock kit at your main panel, permit, and inspection. Can you perform an electrical inspection on a home before we buy it?
Yes — we offer pre-purchase electrical inspections in Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Fort Myers Beach, Bonita Springs, Estero, Naples and nearby cities. A general home inspector covers a lot of systems; we focus specifically and deeply on the electrical — panel condition, wiring type, grounding and bonding, GFCI and AFCI protection, service entrance, and visible code violations. You receive a written report to use in negotiations or to determine if the home's electrical is a dealbreaker. Do you offer low voltage services?
Yes. Our low voltage services include Cat6 data cabling and network drops, coaxial for cable and satellite, speaker wiring, security camera rough-in, doorbell and video doorbell wiring, and landscape low voltage lighting systems. If you're building new, finishing a room, or just need a clean hardwired network drop instead of relying on WiFi, we can run it neatly through your walls — often while we're already on-site for other electrical work. How much does an electrical panel upgrade cost in Cape Coral or Fort Myers?
A typical panel replacement or upgrade runs $1,500 to $3,000. The price depends on how difficult the job is, and on whether the new panel needs the more expensive GFCI, AFCI, or dual-function breakers. Where the home does not already have an outside disconnect, current code requires one, so we install that exterior service disconnect. The power company then disconnects the service at the service drop. When that happens, a grounding system that still uses only one ground rod usually has to be updated, and that new grounding system is part of what changes the price. Cape Coral often requires these changes. Fort Myers may not require the outside disconnect. Each city follows its own rules. The work is permitted and inspected. Do you pull permits for all electrical work?
Yes — always. Every ElectriciansX installation that requires a permit gets one. This includes generator installations, panel upgrades, EV charger installations, dock wiring, new circuits, and any work on your service entrance. Permitted and inspected work protects your homeowner's insurance, satisfies lender and insurance requirements, and ensures the work is done to NEC code. Unpermitted electrical work can void your insurance and delay or kill a home sale. We handle all permit applications, inspections, and final sign-offs — you don't have to do a thing.
