Weatherproof inlet • Lockout • Portable generators • Permitted & inspected • (239) 880-9473
You plug a portable generator into the weatherproof inlet outside, a lockout keeps the main and generator breakers from being on together, and you choose which circuits to power from the panel. A 50-amp feed can carry more of the house than a 30-amp one.
The City of Fort Myers lists electrical additions or modifications as work that needs a permit; we apply, schedule the inspection and bring the job to final.
A Google reviewer had us install a portable generator plug into their panel, and later a 50-amp car charger for a Tesla; they called us very professional and said they would hire us again. An inlet is the kind of job where the careful part is invisible: the correct breaker, the lockout and the labeling.
If you do not want to haul out a portable generator and fuel it in every outage, a standby generator with an automatic transfer switch starts itself. See our Generac 28 kW project in Fort Myers.
Refrigerator, freezer, lights, router, fans and a few outlets, one circuit at a time, switching loads on and off as needed. Central air conditioning and electric cooking are typically beyond what a 30-amp feed can carry. We tell you what to expect for your generator before we install.
Yes. A later move to a 50-amp inlet or a standby generator builds on the panel work already done. See what a complete standby installation looks like in our Fort Myers Generac project.
The inlet, the lockout, the dedicated breaker and the wiring between them. We apply through the EnerGov portal and request the inspection online, and the work is closed out when the City approves it.
