Generator installation in Cape Coral starts with the lot. Cape Coral is built on a grid of canals, and no two lots look quite the same. Where the generator can sit, how far it is from the meter and how the service enters the house all change the job, so we start every Cape Coral generator project by looking at the actual wall, meter and yard.
The electric utility here is Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC), not FPL, and permits and inspections go through the City of Cape Coral. We handle both sides of that, so you are not the go-between.

We installed a Generac system on an older Cape Coral home with three separate service feeds from the utility pole. The service lines were too short to reach the transfer switches, so we sought special permission from LCEC and worked with the City of Cape Coral inspectors on how to extend them. The answer was a 24 by 24 inch box with Polaris taps, a wireway into three 200-amp Generac transfer switches, an e-stop at the meter, and a smart module on each air conditioner. You can see every step in that project.
The City of Cape Coral takes permit applications from licensed contractors online through its EnerGov Self-Service portal, and its Building Division does the plan review and inspections. We apply for the permit, schedule the inspection and bring the work to final, and you keep the permit paperwork.
The City of Cape Coral issues the permit through its Permitting Services Division, and its Building Division reviews and inspects the work. A licensed contractor applies online through the EnerGov Self-Service portal. For a generator that means the electrical permit, the inspection of the transfer switch and connection, and, when the service lines need work, a conversation with LCEC before anything is cut.

An older Cape Coral home with three utility service feeds got a 200-amp Generac transfer switch on each one, plus air-conditioner load shedding.

“I had Bert come out and install a portable generator plug into my panel and a separate time to install a 50a car charger for my new Tesla.”
