Challenger & Federal Pacific replacement • Square D QO • Village permit handled • (239) 880-9473
In Sungate Villas at Fountain Lakes in Estero we replaced a Challenger electrical panel with a brand new Square D QO panel. The homeowner was selling and the Challenger panel was causing trouble with the sale. After the replacement, the homeowner was able to sell the property.
Permits for panel work in Estero go through the Village of Estero Building and Permitting Services, and we handle the permit paperwork.

Challenger panels are among the older brands that home inspectors, insurance companies and realtors often flag when a home is bought, sold or insured. Reports about the brand describe overheating and breaker problems. Federal Pacific panels raise the same kind of concern, and Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels have a long documented history as a fire hazard. Replacing the panel with a new Square D QO is a common way to clear these concerns.
In our experience, old panels turn up mostly in older homes, often in HOA communities, and newer builds do not have the issue. If you are not sure what brand your panel is, we can look at it. See our Estero Challenger replacement project.
The Village of Estero issues permits through its Building and Permitting Services at 9401 Corkscrew Palms Circle, (239) 221-5036. We prepare and submit the paperwork and bring the job to its final inspection. Florida currently enforces the 2020 National Electrical Code through the 8th Edition (2023) Florida Building Code.
Panel upgrades typically run about $1,500 to $3,000, depending on the job, and every job is quoted after we see it. Call (239) 880-9473 or request an estimate.
