We did all of the electrical wiring for a new construction home on Fort Myers Beach, on Estero Island. The lighting was a large part of the job, from LED tape on every ceiling beam to a countertop that glows from behind.

  • Location: Fort Myers Beach, Florida (Estero Island)
  • Service: new construction wiring and LED accent lighting
  • Equipment: LED tape lights, Aspect LED lighting sheets, several 24-volt drivers, two white Leviton electrical panels with glass fronts

What we did

  • Wired the entire new construction home.
  • Installed LED tape lights on all of the ceiling beams for accent lighting throughout the home.
  • Installed a custom backlit countertop using Aspect LED lighting sheets, powered by several 24-volt drivers, behind a translucent stone countertop.
  • Installed LED tape lights for all of the closets, toe kick lighting and ceiling cove lighting.
  • Installed LED tape lights in the shelving, including the master closet shelving.
  • Installed two white Leviton electrical panels with glass fronts.

What LED tape lights and LED lighting sheets are

LED tape light is a thin, flexible strip with LEDs mounted along it. It is tucked into beams, coves, shelves and toe kicks so the light glows from the edge or underside without showing the fixture. LED lighting sheets are flexible panels covered with a grid of LEDs. They are mounted behind a translucent stone such as onyx or quartzite, and the light glows through the stone. Both run on low voltage, so a driver (a power supply) converts the home’s power down to 24 volts for the lights.
