Generac standby generators • Transfer switches • Charlotte County permit handled • (239) 880-9473
At a Port Charlotte home we installed two 200-amp Generac automatic transfer switches beside the outdoor meter, one on each side, labeled Emergency Disconnect and Service Disconnect. They connect to a 26 kW Generac standby generator on a raised concrete pad at the back of the home, next to the air conditioner and the pool equipment.
Port Charlotte is unincorporated, so generator permits come from Charlotte County, and we handle the permit paperwork.

We trenched about 40 feet to the generator and ran the generator cable in 2-inch conduit, buried at least 24 inches deep. The generator sits on a raised concrete pad. This is the newer style of Generac equipment, which can communicate by Bluetooth and by cellular device. See the full Port Charlotte generator project.
Charlotte County Community Development, 18500 Murdock Circle, 941-743-1200, asks for the application stating the fuel type, a recorded Notice of Commencement for work over $5,000 before the first inspection, load calculations with an electrical diagram, a site plan showing the generator and its final floor elevation, anchoring details and the generator stand information. We prepare and submit all of it. Florida currently enforces the 2020 National Electrical Code through the 8th Edition (2023) Florida Building Code.
We install Generac generators and have for about ten years. We also do generator maintenance such as oil changes, spark plugs and air filters, and we troubleshoot the electrical side and the transfer switch. We do not repair mechanical engine faults.

“I had Bert come out and install a portable generator plug into my panel and a separate time to install a 50a car charger for my new Tesla.”
